Moms Don't Get Sick Days

It's been a rough week in the Glover household to put it mildly. We're all sick, and have been for the better part of a week now. On top of that, we removed our living room carpet a few weeks ago because it was a disgusting cess pool of dirt, grime, germs, and dog hair, in order to refinish our hardwood floor. When we bought our house three and a half years ago we had one dog and no children. The idea of carpet seemed like such a better alternative to refinishing the hardwood floors that were stained with unidentifiable substances (read: animal feces and urine from the previous owners) and I just love how cozy and homey carpet can be. We renovated the entire upstairs of our home which was a test that somehow our relationship passed. Now, we have two dogs, a cat, and a baby. The carpet had to go.

This was before the sanding/staining process. The idea that we lived with this underneath our carpet for so long makes me cringe.

Side note: for those of you thinking about refinishing hardwood floors take heed. Sanders with bags on them don't catch all the dust. I should have known this was too good to be true but I live in a world of naivety and denial.

We had to all live locked in our bedroom for the duration of this project which was about four days. Four very, very, very long days with two dogs, a cat, a husband, and a baby all in a King size bed. We could have moved downstairs during this time (we have a living room and guest bedroom down there) but the idea of hauling all of our necessities down and then back up seemed almost as bad. Partner this with everyone being sick, Lorelai crying and fussing, Bradley crying and fussing, my dogs whining and barking, and the cat attacking all of us periodically because she hates us, this experience stood as a testament to my faith. Jesus took the wheel and kept me almost sane.

This is the after photo. Such an amazing transformation! My father in law did the majority of the work and I can't thank him enough for all of his help. We were initially going to do all the floors (hallway, and both upstairs bedrooms) but after realizing how costly and time consuming it actually was, we've decided to delay our torment and partake in that in the Spring.

Over the weekend we went to a birthday party and stayed just long enough for everyone to think I have a well-behaved child. Mom win! After we got home, we took Lorelai outside to play in the leaves while Daddy cleaned up the back yard a little bit. I decided to bust out my camera and Mamarazzi her. These are some of my favorite shots.

 I enjoy ironic shirts :)
Too cool for school

Halloween was unfortunately not the fun celebration I had hoped it would be. Lorelai and I spent the morning at the pediatrician's office because of her temperature and her refusal to nurse laying on her right side which had me concerned she may have an ear infection. Thankfully it was just a bad cold, and while her temp ran for about two and a half days, it's gone back down to normal and we are only fighting the stuffy/runny nose. Her little voice is still hoarse, but it sounds so darn cute when she babbles it melts my heart.

We managed to meet up with my family for a little bit of trick-or-treating and some pictures. I forgot my camera at home (of course) but have some low quality, out of focus images to share instead. We made it about three houses before she started screaming so loud we hightailed it to the car and got the hell out of there. Since she's only five months old it's not the end of the world, she can't eat the candy anyway and has no idea why we've made her wear this ridiculous costume in the first place. I'm just glad I got some pictures for me and we all got to go to bed at 7:30pm. My kind of night!

She was so thrilled about the entire process

Sorry I was so pretty on Halloween. I went as a sick and stressed out Mom. Nailed it!

Girlfriend rocked her piggy tails though ;)

 Chillin' with Grandma

Cousin Love!

I have a Senior session this weekend that I'm so excited about. It's been a couple of weeks since my last session so I'm eager to get back behind the camera. I am toying with the idea of running a Christmas mini session at the end of November, and need to seriously get my shit together and start planning. I have had zero energy, a headache from hell, and if I bend over too low snot drips out of my nose like a faucet. You're welcome for the visual.

Hopefully we are on the tail end of this virus, I also have a lot of work to do around my house. We've brought up our Christmas decorations, which, is a huge deal in our family. Of course once I'm done I'll be posting about it on the blog. Until then, stay well everyone :)
